Ingredients:
Sift together the 5 C. flour, 2 tsp salt, 2 C. shortening. Cut in with a pastry blender or 2 knives until mixture resembles coarse cornmeal. Combine the 2 egg yolks, beaten and enough milk to make 1 1/3 C. liquid. Slowly add egg-milk mixture to flour-shortening mixture. Mix just until dry ingredients are moistened. Divide dough in half. Roll out one-half into 14 x 16-inch rectangle. Place in buttered pan. Sprinkle over Pastry the 1 C. crushed corn flakes. Peel and slice the cooking apples and arrange apples over the corn flakes. Combine sugar, flour, and cinnamon. Sprinkle over apple slices. Dot with butter. Roll out other half of pastry in a 14x16-inch rectangle. Place over apples. Pinch top layer to bottom layer. Beat 1 egg white until stiff peaks form, and brush this evenly over the top crust. Bake in oven at 400° F for 1 hour. While still warm, drizzle Glaze from spoon.
